Maryland House Republican Caucus introduces legislative package to reduce crime, improve education and restore the state’s economy

Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the United States, yet the number of murders and violent crimes committed with guns continues to grow every year, with the overwhelming majority of those committed with stolen guns. Astonishingly, the Maryland General Assembly has for years refused to make the theft of a firearm a felony. Again this year, the House Republican Caucus will offer the Gun Theft Felony Act (HB 750) and fight to close this absurd loophole in Maryland law.

Likewise, you don’t, for example, have to be an African American to be angered by racism.  And you don’t have to live in Baltimore to be appalled by the huge loss of well-being and potential suffered daily by the majority of its residents due largely to an ineffectual city government – and to a lack of sufficient concern by our state government and voters throughout Maryland.

Marilyn Mosby did not lose the Election because of Racism

Recently, a local media outlet published an editorial claiming that Marilyn Mosby lost the primary election due to racism. Claiming Mosby lost due to her skin color undermines the democratic process and more importantly, it discounts the voters of Baltimore, most of whom are Black. The fact that a Black man, Ivan Bates, won the three-way primary further discredits the idea that race was a factor.
