Dudley Thompson lives in Girdletree, MD., population 106. He was born, raised, and lived most of his life in Baltimore. He worked for the News-American on the advertising side until it closed in ‘86. His second career was teaching in juvenile jails for the Maryland State Department of Education. He holds a Masters in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University, ‘77, and a B.A from the University of Maryland,’74.
Light rail is a proven loser that the state has just doubled down on. It is going to take an hour to go from Security Blvd to Johns Hopkins Hospital and like the current line rail, few people will ride it because it is too slow and scary. People on the East and West side deserve the same mass transit service as those fortunate residents serviced by the subway.

One of the new owners of The Baltimore Sun, Armstrong Williams, wrote an Op-Ed on March 24 in support of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
“If Nikita Khrushchev could arbitrarily transfer Crimea from Russia to Ukraine in 1954, what’s so terrible about [Russian President Vladimir] Putin reversing that in 2014?” Williams wrote.

Originalism, the idea that the Constitution must be interpreted by the historical context of its meaning at the time the document was written, is a leading conservative dogma held by some members of today’s Supreme Court and unfortunately, it does a great disservice to the people of these United States.

In Governor Moore’s first year, he is batting 0 for 2 on public lands in Baltimore City. With Harborplace and the Orioles’ MOU, our Governor is squarely behind two projects that benefit the few(and wealthy) at the expense of the public.

EVs do not pay road taxes, another area that must be addressed. The free ride must end because all of us that don’t have EVs are paying for the roads EVs ride on. The electricity used by EVs must be taxed to pay for the roads so add that in as a future expense. People that can afford Teslas should be paying road taxes now.

Mr. Angelos said the Orioles rebuild is finished. The team is not going to get much better. Liftoff is complete. The launch is over. Mission accomplished. We are as good as we are going to get. The O’s are predicted to be a sub-.500 team this year. And you thought they were good.

Cannabis, in many ways, has been legal in Maryland ever since Maryland opened the medical dispensaries years ago. It takes little effort to get a medical card. One does not need to actually see a doctor.

Lamar Jackson is not an elite quarterback. He is a great runner but he has observably lost a step as he added muscle. His passing has not improved over the years. He does not have a golden arm and never will. Currently, Lamar’s passer rating places him 18th out of 35 NFL quarterbacks. Average, at best.
