Equal Medium Mentorship Program hosts art contest for disadvantaged youth

Equal Medium Mentorship Program is hosting an artist submission contest. The contest is running from October 21st-December 11th. Hopefully this art program will curate, show, and promote the artwork of youth living below the poverty line and suffering from mental illness. For clarity, mental illness is a condition that impacts a person’s thinking, feeling, or mood; it may affect his or her ability to relate to others and to function on a daily basis.

Equal Medium Mentorship Program is accepting artwork from youth between the ages of 8-21 who qualify as either having a mental illness or trying to create their way out of adversity. We’re not excluding other creative minds. If you are between the ages of 8-21, you can participate.

The mediums being accepted are entries from visual arts and humanities. Therefore, you’re encouraged to submit your drawings, paintings, and short stories and poetry.

The entries should be sent to Equal Medium Mentorship Program P.O. Box 3113 Catonsville, MD 21228 no later than December 11th. Each entry must have a NAME, PHONE NUMBER, AGE, and SCHOOL OR YOUR CURRENT ADDRESS. Please be advised if the previous details are not on each submission, the work will not be accepted. The paintings and drawings should be no bigger than 18×24 and no smaller than 4×6.

1st place wins 100$ plus membership, 2nd place wins 40$ plus supplies, and 3rd place wins 25$ plus membership. Also 1st place offers the winner a chance to compete in the DC, MD, and VA contest for art excellence and continuation. In 2016 Equal Medium Mentorship Program will host an art submission for contestants all over the United States.
