Conflict over Kashmir

For more than 100 years, Kashmir has witnessed conflict, war and bloodshed. Thousands of people lost their lives. Muslims killed a lot Sikhs so Sikhs responded in the same way. A lot of Kashmiris forced to flee their country. The Chinese invasion of Kashmir made things more complicated.

India and Pakistan have been in a constant war over Kashmir. It is very strange that the Mahatma Ghandi didn’t contribute to solve the conflict at the time.

Jihadist groups formed and that added insult to injury. Many elections took place but they have been accused of being rigged. No side was willing to compromise. A terrorist attack targeted the Indian parliament in 2001.

Terrorist attacks don’t reflect the true teaching of Islam. Violence only brings more violence. I believe that the Kashmiri people should take a stand and decide what should happen to Kashmir to end this long conflict.

My message to both sides is:

“Your endless war over Kashmir took thousands of lives already. Insisting on this conflict will only cause more damage to your countries and to Kashmir. Let the Kashmiri people decide their own fate. You need to compromise in pure intent in order to achieve peace”.
