Welcome to Biden’s America where the Constitution is shred

It is, arguably, the most disgraceful act by a Senate Democratic Party Majority Leader since Senator Lyndon Johnson ( D-TX) drastically weakened Republican President Eisenhower’s 1957 Civil Rights Act – to please Democratic Party segregationists.

On April 17, 2024, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) continued the Democratic Party’s long march to a totalitarian state. Schumer engineered the dismissal of the impeachment of the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas without a trial. He made history in doing so since this is the first time this has ever happened. He is setting a precedent that says we can shred the Constitution anytime we want to do so, anytime it is politically inconvenient.

Schumer’s dictatorial nature knows no bounds. When he is not ignoring the laws of the United States of America, he is threatening the Supreme Court justices who rule on the Constitutionality of laws. He is in the best tradition of Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky, Mao, Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Xi. Worse yet, his fellow Democrats unquestionably support his efforts.

After Schumer’s coup d’état, several Republican Senators took to the Senate floor to express their outrage.

Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-NE) said” My, my, my, what have our Majority Leader and the Democrats in the Senate wrought? They have overturned two hundred and twenty-seven years of precedents that my colleagues have talked about. Twenty-one previous impeachments, all scheduled for trial. …To my colleague from Texas, his point about the media being complicit. One of the headlines of Politico that I was told about said the trial lasted only three hours. There was no trial. There was no trial! The Majority Leader decided that he could determine what was unconstitutional and get every single one of his Democrats along partisan lines to vote for it.”

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) wondered: “Even though lying to the United States Congress is a felony, under the precedent that the majority leader and our Democratic colleagues established, it’s not a high crime [or] misdemeanor….I’m trying to follow the Senate majority leader’s logic: What do you have to do to get impeached now? I mean, a felony is not sufficient. What’s above a felony?”

Kennedy added: “I predicted that Sen. Schumer—for the first time in Senate history—was going to bury the articles of impeachment against a sitting official without a full trial, and he did. Democrats are destroying the Senate to keep Americans from seeing the evidence of how royally the Biden administration has screwed up our southern border—but the American people know a whitewash when they see it. “

Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX): “It’s the Senate’s duty to hold a court of impeachment when articles of impeachment have been sent from the House of Representatives, but Democrats would rather shirk their responsibility because they don’t want the American people to see the facts. They care more about political clout than exercising oversight to investigate how Alejandro Mayorkas willfully aided and abetted the criminal invasion of the United States.”

The remarks of Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) represented the thoughts of many Americans. He said: “I’m kind of amazed at what’s happened today…. We all thought the last few weeks that there was a chance for an impeachment trial of Secretary Mayorkas … he wasn’t the only one on trial today – it would have been every Democrat.

Every Democrat here in the Senate, every Democrat in the House, and every Democrat that’s running our Executive branch. Because there’s not been one person that has said anything since I’ve been here, in three and a half years, we need to do something at the border. We’ve let in 10 million illegal aliens in the last three years. And on that data point alone, Secretary Mayorkas intentionally failed to secure the border.”

Tuberville continued: “So instead, the impeachment process is over. The media will stop covering it in a few days. We’ll be going back to throwing millions of taxpayer dollars at blue states so they can manage the surge of illegal aliens going to the blue cities all over the country. It’s clear that [this] administration [is] more concerned with taking care of these illegals than they are about protecting citizens.

So, I will ask again, has Secretary Mayorkas fulfilled his oath of duty before this body to protect and defend the country against all threats foreign and domestic? Is our border secure? The answer is simple. He has not and it is not…We broke something today that has never been done…. It’s never happened before. Now we’ve set a precedent …How is this body ever going to be able to hold anybody accountable for anything that they’ve done wrong here in the federal government.”

America is a rudderless ship drifting toward totalitarianism. The Democratic Party is at perhaps its lowest ebb since the 1860s. They have used the IRS against its political enemies. It has used the CIA and FBI to spy on a Republican presidential candidate. It has persecuted its political rival and as of this writing is attempting to imprison him. It has imprisoned those who peacefully protest abortion and other policies favored by Democrats.

Whenever a cabal controls the media, judges, prosecutors, legislators, and executives, it is beyond the reach of the law, and tyranny results.

Les: I don’t know you, so I hope you don’t mind that I call you by your first name.

The problem with your reply to Michael is that you do what many Ds to when one of their own is called on the carpet for some alleged misbehavior: they pivot to Trump.

Why not simply address the issue? Mayorkas lied, he is alleged to have committed a felony, and he was impeached. Why did Shumer et al. refuse to go to trial?

Hi, Michael. We’ve never met or talked, so you have my apologies for calling you by your first name. Please call me Les. Life’s too short for outdated formalities.

I’ve read your op/ed, “Welcome to Biden’s America where the Constitution is shred,” dated April 22.

If I was Schumer, I probably would have let the trial go forward and make whatever point he has during the trial – while reminding voters that Republicans in the House need to spend more time governing and less time throwing tantrums, politically speaking, when they don’t get their way.

    Couple of comments…

One has to do with your opening paragraph. You don’t need to go all the way back to Lyndon Johnson for an example of someone disrespecting the spirit of the Constitution. How about March 2016 when then Senate Majority Leader McConnell said “No.” to a vote on President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. Read the September 24, 2020, Brookings commentary by Russell Wheeler entitled “McConnell’s fabricated history to justify a 2020 Supreme Court vote.”

More importantly, do you seriously want to debate which party is shredding the Constitution when the leader of the Republican Party is the originator of “The Big Lie” and who, at a minimum, encouraged if not outright instigated the January 6 attack on the Capitol? The same insurrection that threatened the life of then Vice President Pence when he refused to cooperate on constitutional grounds.

Why not ask Mike Pence who he thinks is the Constitution Shredder-in-Chief?
