Leaving Washington for a life of wine, food and travel
Do you love food, travel and wine? So do I.
After a lifetime of living and working in Washington D.C., I’ve been given an amazing opportunity — write a book and experience the good life in downtown San Francisco.
I won’t always be here so I’m trying to take advantage of it.
In the coming months I’ll blog about as much of this San Francisco experience as possible.
While Washington, D.C. centers around politics, San Francisco gravitates toward food and wine. An example: The food link on the San Francisco Chronicle website is prominently featured in the center of the page.
So far, we’ve spent many a Saturday morning walking to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market where we buy some of our food for the coming week and visit the wine store or prepared food vendors. (It feels very French to wander the outdoor stalls and then relax over an excellent glass of wine.)
This California life has allowed me to taste hundreds of wines. Our first stop after driving across country was in Napa. And while I’m the first to admit I’m no sommelier, I will faithfully record some of my visits and thoughts and probably more appropriately the opinions of friends who are far closer to being experts than I can ever pretend to be.
Welcome to Sarah’s life of wine, travel, food and child. Sarah Abruzzese is a former Washington D.C., reporter, living in southern California. She’s working on launching 7 SUNDAYS CLOTHING (www.7SundaysClothing.com), a UPF 50+ sun protective clothing company for children. Beside working on the clothing line, she spends her days running after a toddler and then if there is time left over, eating well, visiting wine country and exploring the West Coast.
