John Waters sends nasty fun Christmas ornament to ‘Low Budget Hell’ author
This just in:
Baltimore cult director John Waters has been checking to see who has been naughty and who has been nice. Mark author Robert Maier on the naughty list.
Maier reports he was “X-ed off Water’s Christmas Card mailing list” by publishing Low Budget Hell, but he still “treasures” Waters’ old cards.
Well, truthfully it was not a card. Instead Waters sent him a full-size blown-glass working Christmas tree ornament with a rubber roach inside, Maier reports.
As Maier says, “It’s the only non-paper card greeting he ever sent. Now that his mailing list tops 2,000 names, of course it would be too expensive to send such a wonderful trinket.”
Maier offers up a photo of the trinket for all to enjoy.

Baltimore Post-Examiner is run by a creative cadre of dedicated journalists – some who worked at the Washington Post, Baltimore Examiner and other regional and national publications. It’s the Post-Examiner because we love the play on the word “Post” but we are also hoping to answer that question: What’s next after newspapers? We see a lot of websites come and go – and many simply are not making it for various reasons. We have been a model of success since we launched in 2012 with “a little bit of everything” and we aim to continue to break that cycle of websites coming and going.
