Max Obuszewski speaks on peace vigils and the movement
I sat on a bench with Max Obuszewki outside the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation on Friday. The church located at St. Paul Street and University Parkway in Baltimore.
It’s one of the sites where a weekly peace vigil is held.
The vigil is sponsored by the Quakers (Homewood Friends on North Charles Street). Obuszewski is a long time peace and justice activist. He shared with me the recent history of the peace vigil in Baltimore and in a general way the status of the Peace Movement.
Topics, like the war in Iraq; the “Catholic Left;” “The Whistleblowers;” the treatment of women in Afghanistan; the Berrigan Brothers; J. Edgar Hoover’s “COINTELPRO” project, aka “The War Against Dissent”); Donald Rumsfeld; and finally, President Barack Obama came up. Obuszewski is usually at every peace vigil and anti-war rally held in and around Baltimore.
