Fantasy role model

So, after a Zumba session I took this week one of the older members of the class, who likes to reserve her spot right at the front came up to me and told me that she loved my class and it was her ‘fantasy hour.’ I laughed and smiled, thinking she was referring to how you can lose yourself in the music and choreography.

‘Yes,’ she continued, ‘for an hour every week I fantasise that I am you up there, that I look like you and dance like you.’

I laughed and smiled again. And gently ushered out the lovely, mad Zumba lady.


Note to self: do not eat carrots before a workout. They will make you feel very, very sick. They do not digest in time and with every clean and press you think there is going to be carrot vomit on your step.


Aching body

I had an aching body this weekend. Like, really aching. Like, aching as never before. Because I trained to be a R.I.P.P.E.D instructor. It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E

RIPPED stands for Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyo, Endurance and Diet. I got put through my paces for each of these levels to get my certification. I hope I get a 3 (top level instructor) and not a 2 (mid-level instructor) because I got freakin’ 98% in my exam! Hell yeah!

It was hard bloody work, and now all I want to do is teach RIPPED – it is a total body workout and is super fun – it definitely works other places that Zumba currently does not reach!

I auditioned for a Zumba instructor role today, which was a new experience. I loved it – a whole crowd baiting you, waiting for you to come on and challenge them, and it worked out pretty well – I played to my strengths and got a good reaction. How nice when someone comes up and says to the person assessing me at the end: ‘You have to employ her, we loved her stuff’.


This has been a very positive blog to write.
