To Plank or not to Plank….
Planking
I love to plank. I do. My little group of workout chums and ladies in the classes I take call me Queen of Planks.
I can hold a plank now for nearly 5 minutes. I am sooooo totally chuffed to bits (read as v pleased!) with myself.
However….I’ve been beaten!
Seriously – this is a phenomenal plank! The longest time in an abdominal plank position is 3 hours 7 minutes and 15 seconds and was achieved by George Hood (USA) in Newport, KY, USA on 20 April 2013.
Nutrition vs Diet
I sat at the pool today listening to a couple of scarily thin (and I am talking THIN) women talk about the couple of pounds they had lost recently (where, I thought – how on earth did you have any to lose?!) and how they were going to treat themselves to a glass of wine in July when they go on vacation.
I have a real issue with DIETS per se. Eating healthily and getting the right nutrients for your body – that’s the key and it’s great, do it! It’s what your body needs. It needs fuel.
But I wanted to bang these two women’s heads together and say – go on, enjoy yourselves! They are probably sacrificing their health in other ways with under-eating and over-exercising. It really can have serious effects on both physical and mental health.
Oh, I’d love my stomach to be totally flat, but there is no way I am going to sacrifice some of the pleasures in life (Naughty Spice in moderation!).
