Most Common Cancer Treatments

Getting a cancer diagnosis is the most devastating news anyone can get, but it’s best to try not to get discouraged. Technology has made possible new treatments, and it has also improved some of the old methods.

There’s plenty of treatments for each condition, whether it is breast cancer, prostate cancer, or even a brain tumor. Choose the best one for you and consult with your doctor. With treatments comes a lot of pain. You can treat it with morphine, ibuprofen, or even cannabis by going to a Marijuana Clinic.

Chemotherapy

This drug works by targeting fast-growing and reproducing cells and inducing their death. The tumor decreases in size when the cells stop dividing, and eventually, it dies. Chemotherapy does not differentiate between normal growing cells and cancerous cells.

As a result, it damages other structures such as the bone marrow, digestive system, and hair follicles. It has many side effects, like weakening your immune system, causing nausea, and inducing hair loss.

Internal Radiation Therapy

This is a treatment for specific types of cancer. Brachytherapy consists of putting radioactive material near the location of the tumor, inducing the death of cancerous cells by inflicting devastating damage to the DNA.

This therapy can be temporary or permanent. The temporary type is when a bronchoscope is used to get as close to the cancerous tumor as possible, it then delivers a high dose of radiation for several minutes. When the time is over, the device is removed.

With the permanent treatment, the doctor implants radioactive seeds that will stay in your body, emitting a low dose of continuous radiation. The seeds will weaken over time, and eventually stop releasing radiation.

Internal radiation can be more beneficial than external radiation for several reasons. It works in short periods of time, it releases more concentrated doses, and lowers the exposure of healthy tissue to radiation.

Surgery

This is the most effective but most invasive treatment. It consists of removing the tumor through a laparoscopic device or a major procedure that involves anesthetics and going under the knife. It delivers significant results but can be very dangerous. Surgery is the best option for big tumors, but not so much for small ones.

Keep it in Mind

There’s plenty of treatments and clinical trials available for a cancer patient, make sure that you understand each procedure, and choose wisely the best for your condition. Don’t worry about the pain. You can treat it with a prescription or with natural substances.
