Jocular Jazz at WaWi Beer Garden, Munich, Germany
After a few too many drinks at Bruckenwirt, we stumbled through the woods up a big hill, and took the S7 to Waldwirtschaft Großhesselohe, otherwise known as WaWi. Luckily they had some awesome obatzda and pretzels to help sober us up, as well as an amazing jazz band! These guys were total pros, although it was a bit weird hearing live American music in a German beer garden.
HOT TIP: There’s also a brewpub called Isartaler Brauhaus at the Großhesselohe Isartalbf S7 station that makes an excellent weissbeer. Highly recommended before/after your trip to WaWi.
While in Munich, we made a point to go to as many authentic beer gardens as possible, which often meant traveling outside of the tourist areas via public transportation. “The Beer Drinker’s Guide to Munich” by Larry Hawthorne was indispensable in helping us figure out which beer gardens were worth going to, and in showing us exactly how to get to them. Plus, it has coupons for free beer!!!
