UPDATE: The victim of yesterday’s shooting on Suitland Parkway has been identified as Jerome Robinson (a 23-year-old black male) of SE DC. He succumbed to his injuries at PG Hospital Center at 10:07 am Tuesday morning.
Suitland, MD– On Tuesday October 23, 2018, at approximately 9:31am, officers from the United States Park Police and Prince George’s County Police Department responded to the area of Suitland Parkway and Silver Hill Rd. pursuant to a man with a gun call. Upon arrival, units discovered a 23-year-old black male in the roadway of Suitland Parkway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition. Suitland Parkway is closed outbound (E/B) from Naylor Rd. to Forrestville Rd. and inbound (W/B) from Forrestville Rd. to Silver Hill Rd. for the investigation. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident may have begun off of the parkway as an altercation involving occupants of two separate vehicles. At one point, the male victim exited his vehicle and ran across the parkway where he was struck by gunfire from the occupants of the other vehicle. Officers remained on-scene gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in order to establish a sequence of events that led up to the shooting. Police do not feel the public is in danger at this time as the incident appears to be isolated in nature. Detectives do not have suspects at this time and urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the US Park Police Criminal Investigations Tip Line at (202) 610-7500 or online at https://science.nature.nps.gov/uspp. Further details will be provided as they become available.
