Best Ingredients for Making (Healthy) Amazing Shakes

Shakes are such a diverse food, and people make them throughout the day. Whether you’re having a shake for breakfast, lunch, or maybe you have a favorite pre-workout or post-workout mix, shakes are a big part of a lot of routines. Here are a couple of great shake ingredients that you can put into any shake, into any kind of shake you want.

Nuts

Not everyone wants to throw a bunch of super-tough nuts into their delicate blender, but they’re an amazing opportunity. Not only do they taste great, especially almonds (in my opinion), but they’re a great vegan source of protein. They’re also really easy to come by, and many people already have some in their pantry somewhere. If your blender can’t handle the stress of nuts, or maybe it leaves a bunch of chunky bits, or you simply just don’t want to put it through anything extra, you can always grind them up yourself. You can grind nuts into a powder if you put even time into it, but even a quick once over, breaking it up into smaller pieces, will make it lightyears easier for your blender to spread it evenly throughout the shake, and far less damaging to the blades.

Essential Oils

Essential oils. For most people, probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think pre-workout, post-workout, or even shakes in general. But after doing some research, you’ll find that there’s a wide variety of essential oils, tailored specifically towards dietary needs and enhancements. Essential oils can carry a truckload of beneficial minerals and vitamins in them and are pretty much a must-have for any dietary shake. Given that such a small amount will benefit you so much, it’s also great for any shake, since whatever flavor it has will be easily drowned out by the other shake ingredients you’ll be adding. Ease that pain in your gut, headaches, and an almost unlimited amount of ailments in a natural, safe way.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens, power foods, feared by every adolescent in existence. In all seriousness, plants like spinach and kale are one of the best ingredients you can add to your shake. Especially for a healthy breakfast. Jam-packed with nutrients, these will get you up and running before you know it, without adding unneeded calories, fats, and sugars. Out of everything that you’ll put in your shake, these might be the least tasteful, however, when mixed correctly, there’s little to no chance of you tasting them in your delicious shake, just so long as you don’t make the whole thing out of them. Try to use dark green-colored leaves, as they are said to have the most nutrients, antioxidants, and flavor.

Making amazing, healthy shakes isn’t so hard to do, especially if you start with the right ingredients, in the right combination. Planning what you combine into a shake is just as important as the health factor. Mix some ginger(while packed with essential health benefits) in with a sweet shake, and you have a recipe for culinary disaster.
