Word on the Street is Baltimore’s grassroots newspaper, which is written and produced by the homeless, formerly homeless, allies and advocates, will be holding a silent art auction fundraiser.
The WOTS Silent Art Auction will be held next Saturday October 12th from 7-10 PM at Dave Herman’s Studio/Gallery inside the Cork Factory, located at 1601 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore, MD. All proceeds will benefit Word on the Street.
Jenee Mateer,Professor of Photography at Towson University, has been working super hard again this year to bring you the best art auction experience ever. Bids will start as low as $10. Currently homeless artists, student artists and professionals have donated artwork.
Towson University, Loyola University, Fusion Partnerships, Joe Squared Pizza, The Brewer’s Art and La Cakerie are sponsoring the WOTS Silent Art Auction. Guests will enjoy great food and great music by Caleb Stine and Claire Anthony.
One of the exciting donations is a handmade 3-string fretless guitar by Croc Bite Guitars. Here are some pictures of this item.
The Health Care for the Homeless art class will have several artists’ works in the show as will White Rabbet Gallery.
It promises to be one of the premier art auctions of the year! I look forward to seeing you there.
Bonnie Lane is an avid activist and advocate here in Baltimore. She is very vocal about social injustices. Fighting against injustice isn’t just a slogan to her but a way of life. Lane is a soldier in the struggles for social justice, real change and human rights. Having been homeless is what inspired her to become an advocate/activist. A passion for writing consumed her at an early age.
