Yogi Berra as told by Don Mattingly
On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, Hall-of-Famer Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra passed away in West Caldwell, New Jersey. He is one of the most iconic figures in baseball, famous for being a great Yankees catcher, manager and “baseball philosopher.”
His Yogisms are legendary — “Baseball is 90 percent mental and the other half is physical.” — and many players, coaches, sports reporters and fans had some to talk about.
L.A. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly knew Berra, having played for the coach and then later as an instructor when he himself was just getting into coaching.
