The Lumineers light up my night
Ho Hey, The Lumineers….
I didn’t really know any of this band’s songs apart from that Hey Ho one, you know the one that everyone knows, so I was ready to listen and be impressed, and that I was.
This folk rock band hails from Denver, Colorado. The two founding members and songwriters of the Lumineers are Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar and total coolness in a trilby hat) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion).
I fell in love with this band as they performed Friday at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. Their songs are genius, their musicianship amazing, and their stage presence oozed without arrogance. They pitched perfect vocals, interacted with the crowd and played directly to those in the cheap seats, which is always a crowd-pleaser.
“I’ll download the album,’ I thought as I mooched on home, happy songs of love and folk and being nobody’s problem in my heart and head (see video).
If you get the chance, go see them; you might just fall in love too. Tour dates are here. They are more than just a bit of hey and a bit of ho. They are folk rock at its best, and they sure lit up my night.
