Hall of Fame Weekend for the history books

Over the July 25-36 weekend I was in Cooperstown, New York for the National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies. The event was over two days, with dignitaries from the world of baseball taking part.

No other professional sport takes as much time or pays as much respect to its history as Baseball. Although not a part of the Major League Baseball organization (it is owned by the Clark Family Trust), this museum is dedicated the the Big Leagues, with special ares for the All-Americal Girls Professional Baseball League, the integration of baseball and the Hispanic players who have helped make the game what it is today.

Watting the video you’ll see Hall of Famers Cal Ripkin, Jr., Eddie Murray, Dennis Eckersley, Sandy Koufax, Robin Yount, Gaylord Perry, Rollie Fingers, Managers Joe Torre and Tommy Lasorda, and many more.

Play-by-play announcer, Dick Enberg of the San Diego Padres received the Ford C. Frick Award for his outstanding career in sports broadcasting and gave a very stirring speech, part of which is included in the video..

The Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus was also in attendance, as well as the great play-by-play announcer for the Baltimore Orioles, Gary Thorne, who introduced the Hall of Famers.

The Class of 2015: Craig Biggio, John Smoltz, Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez.
