Rain, rain won’t go away in Baltimore
Lately it seems if it’s not snowing, it’s raining in Maryland. And today was marked by sinkholes and flooding.
Late Wednesday parts of 26th Street near Charles Street, collapsed. At least nine vehicles fell down the hillside and landed near the railroad tracks of the CSX rail line. One vehicle was actually sitting on the tracks. CSX is a freight carrier. Five or more vehicles are also at risk of falling in later tonight, as the rain continues to belt the area.
Emergency officials from the Baltimore City Fire Department, as well as from the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, are on the scene. Parts of the street and some of the sidewalk, are continuing to bend and fold into the mudslide. Heavy rains hit the city hard last night and today. More rain is expected tonight and tomorrow. No injuries were reported, according to officials at the scene.
As expected, traffic had to be diverted.
