Maryland Ranked 2nd In Google Search For “Gambling Addiction” In The USA The Past Week

According to Google Trends, Maryland is the 2nd ranked state to search for “gambling addiction” in the entire U.S. during the last week, even though Maryland sports betting went live in December 2021, and that is only retail, not online.

The perspective of this is even more remarkable when you look at the states that come after Maryland in this rankings; for example, in 3rd place comes Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has about 40% more population than Maryland today and is legalized for retail/online sports betting and online casinos. And this was in 2017.

So why are Marylanders ranked 2nd place to googling “gambling addiction” in the United States? The answer is probably out of our league to answer, but we do know this, it won’t be harder for the citizens of Maryland to place bets in the near future since online sports betting apps in Maryland is being legalized in the state in November or December of 2022.

We think that it’s worth noticing that Maryland is a smaller state and has fewer legalized gambling forms but still ranks as 2nd state to search for “gambling addition” in the U.S.

Our conclusion is that Marylanders are after one year, according to their online searches on Google, much affected by the retail sports betting legalization in December 2021. That makes us wonder how the upcoming online sports betting legalization will impact this subject even more.
