Loulouka Baby Formula Guide

Nowadays, the baby food market is full of different brands, making it challenging to choose the right one for your baby. However, it is clear that organic baby formula is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of nutrient content and digestibility. While this may shorten your list of options a bit, there are still plenty of organic baby formula brands to consider. Organic baby formulas in the EU are produced by some of the best and reliable baby formula brands.

There are a few big names you’ve likely heard of at least once, such as Holle, HIPP, and Lebenswert. Another brand entered the international market of organic baby formula with tons of positive reviews from parents worldwide. Loulouka infant formulas hold a leading position on the European baby formulas market, but you may wonder if they are worth the hype?

Loulouka as organic baby formula brand

Loulouka, as a baby food brand, was created in 2012 by two parents who had worked for more than a decade in the baby food industry. They were inspired by the idea of organic baby formula but wanted to create a line without soy or palm oil. Another goal was to create a line of baby formula based on whole milk. After years of product research, the Loulouka brand was officially launched in 2019 and approved by regulators in the EU.

Like all European organic brands, Loulouka also follows the strict regulations and high standards formulated in Switzerland for manufacturers of baby supplies. The farms are situated in Switzerland and are also certified by the EU as environmentally friendly.

What makes the Loulouka infant formula different from others?

While some parents may prefer plant-based infant formulas, Loulouka uses only whole cow’s milk in their formula range. None of the formulas they produce have soy oils, soy proteins, or soy lecithin. Soy has been shown to have negative health effects when consumed in infancy. As a result, Loulouka strives to offer only infant formulas that do not include soy or its derivatives.

The EU has very strict farming regulations and standards for anything labeled “Bio” or “Organic.” There are many advantages to feeding your baby with organic formula compared to the regular milk formula.

Loulouka baby formula is made from cows that are raised and live under organic farming conditions. This results in higher quality milk that is much more nutritious. In addition to the higher standard of living, no pesticides, hormones, preservatives, or chemicals are used in milk production. Whole milk contains high concentrations of essential vitamins and minerals that babies need for proper development.

Besides, whole organic milk naturally has higher iron and vitamin D levels, which are critical for healthy bones and a strong immune system. In addition, Loulouka baby formula has no GMOs and is free from synthetic ingredients.

Formula stages

Loulouka brand offers infant formulas for babies from birth, both based on cow’s milk and goat’s milk.

Cow’s milk infant formula comes in three stages depending on the baby’s age and nutritional needs:

Loulouka stage 1 formula is made for babies from birth to 6 months and contains DHA & Omega-6 to support their healthy growth.

Loulouka formula stage 2 is suitable for babies from 6 to 12 months. The increased absorption of fat is provided by coconut oil.

Loulouka formula stage 3 is an excellent option for babies from 1 year old.

What is the Loulouka formula composition?

Fat is both good and bad at the same time. Good fats are necessary to keep the body functioning and, in the case of babies, to support their growth. Loulouka baby formula differs from many other brands on the market because of the source of good fats. Most organic infant formulas use palm oil to mimic the nutrient content of breast milk.

Palm oil also contains beta-carotene and vitamin E, which are good for the eyes and skin. It is one of the best oils for feeding infants or even adults. The main reason why Loulouka baby formula does not contain palm oil is because of the enormous environmental impact of palm cultivation. Instead, they use coconut oil as their main source of fat, which also closely mimics breast milk.

Lactose is the primary source of sugar in any type of milk. Breast milk, cow’s milk, and goat’s milk contain lactose. Soy milk is not made from milk secretions and does not contain lactose. That is the main point it is suitable for babies with lactose allergies or lactose intolerance. For everyone else, lactose is the essential ingredient in milk and infant formula based on milk.

Some baby formula brands reduce the lactose content and replace sugar with brown rice syrup, glucose syrup, corn syrup, or even plain white sugar to keep costs down. At the same time, hypoallergenic baby formulas may contain beneficial sugars or maltodextrin that are simply fillers in the milk-based formula. Loulouka will always use the best carbohydrates, lactose, for its products.
