Liberty Ship John W. Brown open this weekend for holiday tours

Looking for something fun to do this holiday with your family or that special someone? How about weighing anchor for the harbor of Baltimore?

This weekend, Marylanders will get a rare hands-on opportunity to experience living history, when the Liberty Ship John W. Brown ties up at the Broadway pier. Billed as Fell’s Point Family Fun Weekend, the public is invited to tour the John W. Brown and take in numerous events on the pier, including nautical demonstrations and displays of military vehicles, tugboats and more. The ship will be open for tours 9am – 3pm today through Sunday.

Tonight, July 4th, visitors may obtain tickets to board the Brown from 7:30 – 10pm to watch the city’s annual fireworks display from the deck of the historic ship.

On Saturday at noon, the crew will offer a beer tasting and BBQ, courtesy of Max’s Taphouse.  Then at 7pm, the Brown will stage an evening of fun-filled WWII-era entertainment, with a variety show on the pier featuring The Manhattan Dolls and The Ultimate Abbott and Costello Show. The variety show is free and open to the public.

In addition to this weekend’s festivities, fans of this page should be intrigued to learn that the John W. Brown and the Baltimore Post-Examiner are almost set to team in an exciting endeavor. Details about this curvy campaign will be coming in the next few days. Stay tuned.
