Get ready for Virgin Mobile FreeFest

So tomorrow is the day!  Virgin Mobile FreeFest comes to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia with great bands and fun activities.  Here are a few things to help you prepare and get the most out of the festival:

Get there early:

Merriweather Post Pavilion is opening the gates at 11 a.m. and parking is open at 9 a.m.  Arriving early will allow you to set up and get the best seats; pavilion seats are first come, first served.

Plan out the bands you want to see:

Check the set times for every band you want to see.  You may need to chose one band over another because there are three stages and some are playing at the same time.  Trying to get from one stage to another could take awhile with the 50,000 fans expected to attend. If you have not heard of some of the bands, make sure to check out their music.  The more you plan now, the less you have to do tomorrow.

The band I am most excited to see is Chvrches, if you have not heard of their music, be sure to check it out. Also check out a preview of their new CD on NPR’s First Listen section.

Just in case you are curious, here is my list of bands I am excited for this year:

Download the app:

In the app store (android or iPhone) just search under “Virgin Mobile FreeFest.”  You should make sure to download the app ahead of time (cell service is usually a little shaky at festivals).  In the app you can view the schedule, map, festival news, photos and more.
