Baltimore holds ‘Peace Vigil’ to oppose U.S. war with Syria
Baltimore activists set up a “peace vigil” at St. Paul Street and University Parkway, close to the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation. Their message: “No U.S. War with Syria.”
Moveon.org. organized the demonstration.
At the demonstration, I talked with peace and justice activist Lisa Simeone. She said: “There is no way that bombing Syria is going to help anybody…The U.S. is drone-bombing civilians in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and other places around the world as it is. We’re already killing civilians left and right…We should be talking about a negotiated settlement [in Syria] and working toward a cease fire. We should not be going to war.”
