Baltimore Antique Arms Show Marks 70 Years

Collectors Showcase Takes Place This Weekend at State Fairgrounds in Timonium

BALTIMORE — The “Old Line State” is famous for its blue crabs, horse racing and for 70 years, the finest arms show in the country. The “Baltimore Show”, as hosted by the Maryland Arms Collectors Association on the third weekend of March annually, is considered to be the finest arms show of its kind. With over 1,000 tables of the finest in collectable rifles, revolvers, and sporting shotguns, the Baltimore Show attracts thousands of serious collectors from across the globe. It is considered the “must attend” event of the gun collector year.

Seventy years ago the Maryland Arms Collectors Association, Inc. was founded on this principle: “In recognition of the need for concerted effort in aid of those interested in the collection, preservation, use and study of arms, both modern and antique, this association is dedicated.”

Its founders believed that a smaller, active organization for collectors and students of arms would best serve their purpose.  Their vision has survived and MACA continues to be one of the premier arms collecting clubs.  Be advised that attendance at five (5) meetings per year is mandatory to maintain membership, so it is best that you live within a convenient driving distance from Baltimore.

Club members enjoy a range of benefits including presentations by preeminent experts in the field of arms and military history, and camaraderie with like-minded collectors at monthly meetings. Social events and organized trips to museums and sites of historic interest are available.  Also, the Maryland Arms Collectors Association has held the annual “Baltimore Show” since 1955.

If you wish to pursue membership, you can attend a trial meeting by arranging to be the guest of a member you already know or by sending an email request to [email protected].
