Boston, Vaccaro & Randall: 3 Free Agent Safeties Baltimore Ravens Could Go For

The Baltimore Ravens are widely considered to be one of, if not the best team in the AFC at the moment, however their stock would have been damaged after their Thursday Night Football defeat to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.
The team was beaten at Hard Rock Stadium convincingly as their AFC South struggles provided a huge shock as they earned a 22-10 victory, limiting John Harbaugh’s team from getting any offense going throughout the contest.
The defeat has left the Ravens sitting on a record of 6-3, however, many would go on to claim that is rather impressive given all of the injuries that the team has had to contend with. Key players such as Latavius Murray, Ronnie Stanley, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Marcus Peters, DeShon Elliott and L.J. Fort are just some of the notable names on the injury report (there are many more).
One area that the team is also considered rather weak in regarding squad depth is the free safety position, as there is not much experience behind rookie Brandon Stephens. The rookie has had to take over from Elliott, but that has not stopped website Baltimore Beatdown from providing a number of veteran free safety options that would be available in free agency. Let’s take a look at the options that have been identified:
Tre Boston
Tre Boston has been identified as the best option available on the open market at the moment, and there is no doubt that the eight-year veteran would be able to help the Baltimore Ravens accomplish what sportsbooks such as Unibet IN has predicted they can achieve: become the AFC North champions.
The player is versatile as he can line up at either safety spot but would suit the free position, whilst he has a number of key attributes such as physicality that make him a good option to explore. Having started 76 of his 104 career games, last season’s Carolina Panthers free agent has a total of 429 tackles that include 15 for loss, 42 pass deflections, 15 interceptions, 13 quarterback hits and a further three sacks.
Although he has been out of the league thus far, he played all 16 games last season and recorded a career-high 95 total tackles including three for a loss, an interception, a forced fumble, a pair of fumble recoveries, and four pass breakups.
Kenny Vaccaro
If the Ravens wanted even more experience than what Boston could provide, then they could look to go for Kenny Vaccaro when hitting the open market. The safety has nine years of experience in the league and has exclusively played as a strong safety.
He is rather reliable in regards to being available for selection, as he has started all but one of the 110 games he has appeared in, having recorded 610 total tackles, 10 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, 44 pass deflections, and 30 quarterback hits.
Again, he also had a rather productive season last year whilst with the Tennessee Titans, as he started in 13 games that saw him produce 83 total tackles including six for a loss, five pass deflections, and a sack.
Damarious Randall
A seven-year veteran of the NFL, Damarious Randall is another experienced player that has been highlighted as a potential free agent that has played as a cornerback and in both safety positions. A former first-round draft pick, he began as a cornerback but showed his versatility as he made a successful transition in year three.
Randall was at the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 season where he played in both the strong and free safety positions, whilst he had 10 games at the Seattle Seahawks last season, although none were starts. Throughout his career, he has had 56 starts (of 75 career games), recording 293 total tackles that have included 11 for a loss, 14 interceptions, 2.5 sacks and 47 pass deflections.
