2019 Preakness: War of Will Wins the Second Leg of the Triple Crown
The 144th Preakness Stakes, the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown and the signature race in the state of Maryland was celebrated by 131,256 guests. The total handle on Pimlico’s 14-race program was a record-breaking $99.8 million, surpassing the $93,655,128 million wagered in 2018.
War of Will, Jockey Tyler Gaffalione, trainer Mark Casse, and owner Gary Barber, finished first in the 144th Preakness Stakes, completing the 1 3/16-mile race in 1:54:34 minutes. Everfast finished second and Owendale took third.
