The Feather Nest Inn: Fantasy flights in nearby New Jersey

Leonard Kinsey reviews the Feather Nest Inn in Cherry Hihh, NJ

Brenda and I stayed two nights in the outrageously themed Space Odyssey Fantasy Suite at The Feather Nest Inn in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and filmed a campy sci-fi skit and review video!

From the outside, The Feather Nest Inn looks like a regular turnpike exit hotel, but once you open the door to any of the rooms, you quickly realize that this is no Days Inn. There are eight intricately themed “Fantasy Suites”, four slightly less themed “Theme Suites”, a bunch of lightly themed “Romance Suites”, and a few semi-normal hotel rooms. All of the suites have a large Jacuzzi and a wet bar with a fridge, and some also have waterfalls, fireplaces, and beds with mirrored headboards and ceilings. All rooms also come with a TV with four free “adult” channels, a bottle of champagne on Friday and Saturday nights, and a pretty decent complimentary Continental breakfast.

A few details to note: The Feather Nest Inn only allows guests 21 and older, so you can’t bring your kids here (not sure why you’d want to, anyway, but people are weird). Also, these are smoking rooms, so if you have a problem with cigarette (or – as we smelled wafting through the vent in the bathroom – marijuana) smoke, this probably isn’t the place for you.

Finally, they do offer tours of the Fantasy Suites most days at 12PM and 2PM, but for some reason, the owners won’t let you film during the tour….

In all, I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of themed environments, since the theming in the Fantasy Suites is exceptionally intricate and immersive. It was a lot of fun sleeping in a spaceship! But at $270/night on the weekends, anyone just looking for a nice place to have a romantic evening is probably going to either want to book one of the cheaper non-themed rooms, or head to a “normal” hotel like the nearby Crowne Plaza.
