Md. Dems: Governor Wes Moore leads Maryland Democrats to victory

Maryland Democrats Win Races Across The State Up And Down The Ballot

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Tonight after record early voter turnout, Marylanders elected Democrats up and down the ballot all across the state–sending Governor Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Comptroller Brooke Lierman, and Attorney General Anthony Brown back to Annapolis.

These victories followed a historic coordinated campaign and the fact that for the first time in more than 50 years the state party recruited Democratic candidates to run in every State Senate and House of Delegates race in Maryland. Through grassroots organizing, voter mobilization, and the coordinated campaign, Maryland Democrats expanded their presence in competitive districts and invested in building a stronger statewide Democratic operation.

“Maryland Democrats showed up and showed out today after we ran the most successful coordinated campaign operation this state has ever seen,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chairman Steuart Pittman. “Today we won, and tomorrow we get to work. And, together we will do the real work for Marylanders to grow our economy, make our communities safer, and strengthen our public schools.”

“Maryland, it is the greatest honor of my life to serve as your governor and I am thrilled to continue working alongside Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller to finish what we’ve started and keep building a Maryland that leaves no one behind,” said Governor Wes Moore. “Tonight, Maryland showed the nation we believe in a better way forward–that in a time where Washington is seeking to divide us, that we will stand united. Because here in Maryland we will work with anyone, but we will bow down to no one. Together we will continue the progress we’ve seen throughout Maryland by working across party lines to make our public schools the best in America, to end childhood poverty once and for all, and to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home, create wealth for their families, and live a secure middle-class life.”

“Governor Moore and I are incredibly grateful to Marylanders for trusting us once again,” said Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller. “To our tireless volunteers, dedicated campaign teams, and families who sacrificed so much, thank you. I’ve always said I have the best job in the world because I get to serve the people of Maryland. And I can’t wait to get back to work!”

“This election season, Marylanders have demonstrated they understand that we are the engine powering democracy. We have the power to choose the future we want to create for future generations,” said Comptroller Brooke Lierman. “I’m so grateful that Marylanders have turned out to support Democrats up and down the ballot and I look forward to working with all those elected leaders to build a better Maryland for all of us.”

“Tonight, Democrats in Maryland and across the country have a lot to celebrate. ,” said Attorney General Anthony Brown. “Tomorrow, we get back to work, delivering for everyday people and building a brighter future for all.”

In the last four years, Maryland has created over 64,000 new businesses and tens of thousands of new jobs. Violent crime is at record lows, and Baltimore has the lowest number of homicides in fifty years. Reading and math test scores are at a five-year high, and Maryland’s teacher vacancy rate has been cut by 73%. Maryland Democrats have cut taxes for the middle class and delivered direct relief to Marylanders from skyrocketing energy prices, and Gov. Moore signed an executive order forcing data centers to pay for their own energy. As Republicans in Washington launch direct assaults on Maryland, Maryland Democrats are delivering results and building a Maryland that leaves no one behind.
