International Edgar Allan Poe Conference to be held in New York

Edgar Allan Poe Studies Association Press Release:

From February 26 to March, 1 the Edgar Allan Poe Studies Association (PSA) will organize its fourth international conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. The PSA is an international organisation with over 250 members, which is hosted by Penn State Lehigh Valley Campus. Earlier international conferences about Edgar Allan Poe were held in Richmond (1999), Baltimore (2002) and Philadelphia (2009).

The forthcoming conference in New York will be attended by Poe scholars and students from 24 countries, who will present 152 papers about Poe’s life, his works and his international significance. From an international point of view, Poe is the most popular and influential American writer ever. His works are studied all over the world and are a continous inspiration for writers and poets of al cultures. Japan even has its own ‘Edgar Allan Poe Society!’

Keynote speaker is Poe expert J. Gerald Kennedy (Louisiana State University) whose talk is titled “Why Poe Matters Now. ” For it is a historic fact that the interest for Poe always increases during uncertain and troubled times.

Submission of papers for the conference is closed, but one can still register to come to the conference, and there will be on-site registration, as well.  For details see check out the PSA website.
