How Legalizing Hemp Created A Phenomenon

The American scene is about to witness legal hemp’s entry in a new way. President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill which provided the legalization of hemp in the United States. A stroke of the President’s pen has availed the American population the opportunity to enjoy potential dynamics in their way of life. Globally, the number of hemp-based products would be about 25,000 across beverages, furniture, food, construction, and beauty products.

Some 50 years ago, heroin, marijuana, and hemp were ruled off as Controlled Substances. This was ridiculous since Since hemp contains very little of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) that gives marijuana users a “high” feeling. And for humans historically, hemp use has been a great fit for both recreational and medical purposes.

Growers and hobbyist growers are embracing the hot new trend

In the coming years, the benefit of hemp for farmers in the U.S. is undeniable. While the American landscape continues to evolve, many farmers have a series of challenges such as climate change and the flagging of the dairy and tobacco industries. For that reason, the need for a sustainable crop comes as a boon.

The older 2014 Farm Bill also marked a significant change in the U.S. scenery. From the passing of the bill, farmers were empowered to grow hemp as it was lauded to have a competitive advantage over a host of cash crops.

Using North Carolina as a case study, the tobacco industry was deeply rooted in the history of the state’s agricultural sector for many years. Year after year, the state produces pounds of tobacco so much that North Carolina was on top of the list of the major producers of tobacco. But the moment people started to quit smoking, the business took a different turn.

Like many other states, the farmers in North Carolina saw a decline in the value of the tobacco industry. In 2016, the cash receipts of the state showed that tobacco’s value was only 6.3% of farm income. Year after year, there was the ‘law of diminishing returns’ for tobacco. Luckily, a new crop has now emerged – hemp!

In Kentucky, hemp had strict controls because of the rising anti-drug sentiment. This was, of course, incorrect. Without a government permit, growing the plant was illegal because many people confused the plant for marijuana. Fortunately, the creation of the industrial hemp research pilot programs by the agriculture departments in 2014 supported the reopening of production opportunities. In Kentucky, the cultivation of only 33 acres of hemp plant occurred. In 2015, the seedlings were 922 acres. One year later, the agriculture department reported that 2,350 acres were cultivated.

The switch from the tobacco industry to hemp planting in the U.S

Hemp has become the sensation of all time. In several states across the United States especially North Carolina and Kentucky, many farmers are planting less tobacco in contrast to their dependence on the plant. The reason, they say, is due to health concerns about tobacco. To date, there had been an increase in the sowing of the plant.

In North Carolina, hemp farming is very interesting. The new hemp industry laid out by the government, maybe worth the risk. Even though it is hard to let go of the past, North Carolina is doing great in the hemp production department.

One of the greatest investments so far is change. By using the old greenhouses and drying barns of tobacco, farmers are generating new receipts for the hemp plant. And about the transitioning, farmers across the state are finding it exceptionally easy to transition to hemp production. Sales of feminized hemp seed starts are showing tomorrow’s hemp production will be robust. Prospects suggest that hemp production will supersede that of tobacco in a short period of time.

Consumers are seeking out CBD crystal, CBD oil to mix into their diets

CBD crystal isolate is the purified extracts of the plant cannabis. Based on their versatility, the brand is garnering recognition from hemp lovers. As an isolate, the crystals are created from the separation of cannabinoids from the bulk plant extract. Usually, the crystals contain about 99 percent of the isolate. They are particularly easy to dose because they contain CBD alone. And as expected, proponents agree that CBD crystals are fast in action as they are easy to use.

The common use for CBD crystals is to mix them with edibles, especially in oil-based food or CBD oil itself.

Pet owners and even horse owners are using CBD hemp products

CBD products have been put on sale for pets, especially cats, dogs, and horses. Needless to say, pets experience some of the physiological and medical challenges of the human race – fever, pains, stress. The booming demand for CBD and hemp pet products have been registered by retailers as being as high for humans as it is for pets.

On the news, a pet owner mentioned a time when his pet had joint pain. After limping for a few times, he administered a small dose of CBD which automatically brought the pet to a state of relaxation.

Isn’t it interesting how hemp and CBD have become so popular, despite decades of legal issues and grey areas? As awareness and demand continue to develop, it will be a fascinating trend in this 21st century.
