Efteling Hotel: Cool digs in Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands
After the underwhelming hotel at Europa Park, and the mess that was the Hotel Santa Fe at Disneyland Paris, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to another theme park hotel stay. But, the Efteling Hotel blew away all of my expectations, and was easily the coolest theme park hotel room I’ve ever seen! Efteling out-Disney’d Disney by putting a ton of “magical” little details in the room, including a little mouse in the headboard that I didn’t even find until my second night there!
The Efteling Hotel is in Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands, and is a 5 minute walk from the Efteling theme park. It cost about $160/night for the room, which included park tickets and a nice breakfast buffet.
PRO-TIP: There’s a huge grocery store and liquor store about one mile away. Nice walk, and much cheaper than eating/drinking in the hotel or park. Also, the park closes relatively early, the hotel bar is pretty dead, and there is zero nightlife in Kaatsheuvel, so I’d recommend stocking up on booze and making your own after-hours in-room party.
