Del. Ariana Kelly of Bethesda was arrested June 27 in Bethesda on charges of indecent exposure and trespass and is scheduled to appear in district court in Rockville on Aug. 13.
“This arises from a personal family matter,” said attorney Luiz Simmons, a former delegate representing Kelly. “We’re aggressively disputing the allegation.”
“This is a de minimis incident involving Ariana and her former husband.”
The incident apparently took place at the home of Kelly’s ex-husband Barak Sanford on June 27 and involves a custody dispute involving the couple’s two children, a girl and a boy. The Post’s Bill Turque has more details from the charging document.
Simmons has advised Kelly not to talk to reporters, and she did not return a phone call or email.
Kelly, 38, has represented the Bethesda area since 2011 and was reelected last year in what is always a crowded Democratic primary for the three-member district.
