Poor Peoples’ Campaign launches in Baltimore

On an overcast sky, interspersed with occasional rain showers, social justice advocates joined together in solidarity on Saturday morning  around 10 a.m. in Baltimore to launch the “Poor Peoples Campaign.”

The plan called for the activists, numbering in the hundreds, to rally at the East Baltimore site (Biddle St. and Montford Ave.) and then march out of the city along Route 1 (Washington Blvd.), until they reach College Park. Then, they will stay overnight in that general area and on Sunday they will parade into Washington, D.C.
