Mount Hood’s beauty something to behold

Beautiful Mount Hood in northern Oregon rises to 12,240 feet. Even in the middle of the summer, its peak remains snow-covered. It lies just north, 30 miles or so, of the town of Hood River and the splendid Columbia River Gorge. It is host to 12 named Glaciers or snow covers.

The state of Washington is on the other side of the gorge and Portland is located about 50 miles west. The lush valleys surrounding the mountain are rich with orchards growing berries, strawberries, pears, apples and peaches.

These photos were taken between August 1-8, 2013, while I stayed in a cabin on Mount Hood, that stands at 3,000 feet. There are plenty of hiking trails in the area and river sports to enjoy. To learn more about this amazing region of our America, check out the Mount Hood website.

Drive north from Hood River and you will arrive at the North Pole before you arrive at Mount Hood.
