Despite freezing temperatures fit only for a polar bear and/or a Green Bay Packers’ football player, the public reading of literature in Baltimore carried on!

So on Tuesday author Jen Michalski hosted the “Starts Here! at (Ivy Bookshop) Artifact Coffee Reading Series.” Artifact Coffee is a restaurant located at 1500 Union Avenue in Hamden (Hon.)

It’s only a stone’s throw from the historic Jones Falls and the neighborhood of Woodberry. A capacity audience, many from our local and talented literary set, braved the arctic-like weather to enjoy the readings. The Ivy Bookshop was the sponsor of the lively literary happening. On the program were the short story writer Laura van den Berg (“The Isle of Youth: Stories”) and the novelist Katherine Noel (“Halfway House: A Novel”). By the way, Ms. Michalski’s latest offering, via her very busy Muse, is the highly-praised novel, “The Tide King.” To learn more about the Artifact Coffee/Ivy Bookshop reading series, click here.
