Go check out Iron Rooster

I recently experienced a new restaurant in town: Iron Rooster in the Canton Crossing complex off
Boston Street.

It’s the restaurant’s second location in the state, the first being in Annapolis.

This is a fairly large space with very high ceilings and food service on two levels, but most of the activity seems to happen on the lower one.

I’m guessing because the bar is located there.

The bar area in a restaurant is kind of like the kitchen at a house party – that’s where people tend to congregate.

iron rooster pop tartIron Rooster opened in mid-November and seems to have found an audience. The observation is based on the size of the crowd I saw there on a school night.

It is open seven days, serving all three meals, including breakfast all day.

In my next visit I promised myself to order the Big Belgian waffle, which is made to order with spiced maple bourbon butter and dusted with powdered sugar ($9.95).

I was told the breakfast tacos and the shrimp and grits are big hits.

The restaurant is comfortable, both in size and atmosphere, and has a young but trained wait staff.

There’s plenty of parking, but you may have to wait in line once you get in the restaurant because there are no reservations.

But this is when the bar comes in handy.

Upon entering, I noticed bacon in a jar on every table, so I inquired.

Seems when you check in, follow or like on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram you’ll get offered the free bacon.

I hope I have that right – or just call and ask what the deal is with the bacon.

Some of the entrees are grilled ribeye, root beer and honey glazed pork chop, brinner meatloaf and chicken pot pie. They also have sandwiches, salads and burgers.
It looks to me Iron rooster is an ideal restaurant for Canton.
