Concert for Baltimore’s homeless children scheduled for Sept. 24

A child should never have to worry where their next meal is coming from. The population of homeless children registered in Baltimore City Public Schools was about 2,700 students for the 2012/13 school year. The goal of the Homeless Children’s Weekend Backpack Program is to make sure that no homeless child is hungry during the weekend. This program serves 100 homeless students with a goal of expanding to serve more.

BeFunky_cONCERT FLIER.jpgIt promises to be a great concert with a great benefit for homeless students. All donations at the door will go to Heart’s Place Services, Inc. that oversee the program. Program director Christian Wilson will be showing what the backpacks of food look like during the concert.

Please join us for a night of fun, food, music and making a difference.

A benefit concert is being held at 2640 Space located at 2640 Saint Paul Street, Baltimore on September 24, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to this program to help feed our homeless students. A suggested donation of $10-20 will be taken at the door.

Several local artists have donated their time and talents for this important event. They are Leah n Drey Rose, Blizzard, Ken Morrison, Ryan Harvey and Brooks Long. Terra Café will have food for hungry concert goers and will donate a portion of their proceeds to feed these children.

There will be limited-edition concert T-shirts available by a local business, Linda and Jerry Taylor. The concert was Baltimore homeless advocate Bonnie Lane partnered with Ian Schlakman, congressional candidate in Maryland District #2, Green Party to organize the benefit.
