5 Cities with the Fastest Rising Tech Jobs

When you think of tech cities, the first thing that comes to many people’s minds is Silicon Valley.  For years, Silicon Valley held the spot of the number one hub for all things tech-related. However, there are several U.S. cities that have been rivaling Silicon Valley in terms of technology job growth. Here are just a few cities with the fastest rising tech jobs.

Austin

Austin is particularly recognized for its population of startup companies, and the city continues to be a popular place for tech-savvy millennials to gravitate towards.  Not only is the city ripe with opportunity in tech fields, but Austin real estate is also significantly more affordable than the San Francisco Bay Area, where Silicon Valley is located.  Austin is home to countless tech companies, including Apple, Dell, and IBM.  In addition to a large number of tech companies and startups in the city, Austin also boasts several colleges and universities, so recent graduates can jump right into the career world and have their pick of where to apply.

BALTIMORE

Last year, Baltimore was voted the 10th fastest growing tech town in the U.S. by ZipRecruiter, and for good reason. Baltimore has seen a 109 percent growth in tech jobs year over year, with the top five tech jobs are project manager, software engineer, network engineer, system administrator, and software developer.  Baltimore is home to many great tech companies, including SmartLogic, Yet Analytics, and Mindgrub Technologies.  Baltimore also has a community of tech startups, making it the perfect city for people interested in either starting their own company or working for an existing one.

ALBANY

Albany’s Tech Valley has been rising in the ranks to rival Silicon Valley due to its constantly growing tech scene.  ADNET Technologies, Bits & Bytes Technology Solutions, Inc, TechBridge Group, and many other tech companies are located in Tech Valley, and the area has become a popular stomping ground for tech-savvy people.  Albany is also home to several colleges and universities, including University at Albany, SUNY, and Excelsior College, which lends to many college students seeking immediate employment in the area after graduation.

DENVER

Denver is another city that has seemingly endless opportunities in tech-related fields. Companies like Walkthrough, SecureSet, and Looplist all have offices in Denver, and students from the nearby colleges and universities often go on to pursue careers in tech-related fields. Having so many great tech companies in the city makes it easier for students to decide whether or not they want to stay in Denver after graduation, or pursue a career elsewhere.

SEATTLE

Seattle has seen a significant influx of tech companies over the last few years, making it one of the top U.S. cities with the fastest rising tech jobs.  Apple, Cisco, Intel, and Google all have offices in Seattle, along with countless others.  Seattle has also seen a 74.9 percent growth in tech jobs year over year, and the numbers continue to rise.  Seattle is a great option for people who want to work on the West Coast outside of Silicon Valley.
